Internal Network Check: Keep an Eye on Your Customers' Entire IT Infrastructure

Building on the Asset Discovery, the Network Check offers the option of checking all devices in your customers' internal IT infrastructure – from Mac and Linux end devices to printers and smartphones.

Lywand, a provider of automated security audits for MSSPs and their SME customers, has expanded the scope of its solutions for checking internal infrastructures: with the Network Check, IT service providers can now subject all of their customers' network devices – such as PCs, Macs, Linux devices, printers, fax machines, game consoles, and Android and iOS mobile devices – to a security check. Lywand partners can test the new feature for free until the end of February.

Lywand has added a key feature to its automated security audit solution. While the External Check is designed to capture and review externally accessible resources such as domains, IP and email addresses from the perspective of attackers, the internal Agent Check performs a security assessment of end devices. This requires the installation of an Agent on each individual device and was previously only available for Windows PCs and servers.

The Asset Discovery function is available to locate and inventory all other devices in the network that are not equipped with an Agent – such as network devices, printers, fax machines, game consoles, Macs, Linux PCs, iOS and Android mobile devices.

IP-independent Network Check

With the newly introduced Network Check, it is now possible to subject the internal infrastructure targets identified by Asset Discovery to a security check. Via a gateway, the devices are scanned for open ports, known vulnerabilities (CVEs), system hardening, current patch versions and misconfigurations.

Network Check: Gateway setup & scope selection

Lywand partners can determine the frequency and objectives of the checks as needed. Compared to common network scanning solutions, the lywand Network Check is distinguished by the fact that it identifies devices to be checked based on their MAC address, among other things. This has the advantage that targets cannot fall out of scope if their IP addresses have changed.

The results of a Network Check are seamlessly integrated into the existing workflows of the lywand solution and can be tracked via the vulnerability details, the Security Dashboard or the Renovation Plan.

Free Trial Period for Partners

Lywand partners can test the Network Check and the Asset Discovery function free of charge until February 28th. From March, billing will take place as usual as part of the consumption model.

Customised to the Needs of IT Service Providers

"It was clear to us from the outset that our solution could only create the best added value for SMEs if it remained exclusively in the capable hands of their responsible IT service providers", explains Tom Haak, CEO of lywand.

"We are delighted to have been encouraged in this approach. Both the Asset Discovery and the Network Check were requests from our steadily growing lywand partner community, which we were happy to fulfil."
