Our Look Back on the Year 2024

2024 was a great year full of progress and milestones for lywand. Our mission to rethink IT security and make it easier than ever before has driven us to integrate numerous new functions into our Security Audit Platform. At the same time, we were able to expand our partner network and significantly increase our presence at events. Let's take a look at the highlights of this successful year together.

New Features of the Security Audit Platform

Feedback from our partners is at the centre of the further development of our platform - many of the new functions that we introduced in 2024 are based on their valuable input. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you!

Feature highlights from the 1st quarter

  • AI-based risk assessment: In addition to the severity of a vulnerability, its probability of occurrence is now also taken into account. Thanks to artificial intelligence, the probability of the vulnerability being exploited by an attacker within the next 30 days is determined on a daily basis.

  • Whitelabeling: Our platform can be individually adapted to the corporate design, ensuring uniform branding.

  • Read-only access: It is possible to grant employees and customers access to the platform without taking any risks due to possible changes. Customers can view their IT security status themselves at any time.

  • DPP Calculator: Provides a transparent cost estimate for monthly expenses and makes it easier to plan and control costs.

Feature highlights from the 2nd quarter

  • AI chatbot and knowledge base: Our new support widget integrates a comprehensive knowledge base and an AI chatbot that provides answers to common questions in a matter of seconds. This saves time searching and improves efficiency.

  • Agent rollout extension: Enables the distribution of the agent via an ini file.

  • Auto Healing improvements: Customised configurations for servers and clients. Time window for updates can be defined.

  • Cross-client analyses: Provides important evaluations across all clients for well-founded and efficient decisions.

Feature highlights from the 3rd quarter

  • CIS Benchmark Reviews: Evaluates IT systems based on the best practices of the Centre for Internet Security (CIS). Ideal for preventative security and certification processes.

  • Asset Value Determination: Prioritises vulnerabilities based on the business value of the affected targets.

  • Open API: Integration of lywand into existing workflows, ticket systems and communication platforms is facilitated by the open API.

Feature highlights from the 4th quarter

  • Asset Discovery: Automatic discovery and inventory of all network devices for a complete overview of the customer's IT infrastructure.

  • Network Check preparations: Building on Asset Discovery, our team worked intensively on the internal Network Check to ensure a successful launch in early 2025.

Expansion of our Network

New Distributors and Partners

In 2024, we added two strong distributors, Nestec and Synaxon, to our sales network.

  • Nestec: The Austrian distributor specialising in security and messaging offers resellers value-added services such as support, training and a white-label SaaS portfolio. The ‘same day’ delivery guarantee for software licences is particularly noteworthy.

  • Synaxon: Europe's largest IT group networks over 3,200 partners and supports them in the areas of purchasing, marketing and knowledge transfer.

Thanks to the successful collaboration with all our distributors, we were able to expand our partner network to 814 partners by the end of 2024. Together with them, we have managed to increase the number of our customers to 4,633

Events, Webinars & Awards

Personal dialogue with partners and interested parties was the focus of numerous events such as the Fokus MSP conference, the Infinigate Innovation Summit, and it-sa.

Our partner workshops with over 500 participants were also a complete success. We discussed the latest features, sales tips and best practices in small groups. We are particularly proud of the strong community that supports each other and sets new IT security standards together. Another highlight was the presentation of our Platinum Award to GOESYS AG for the first time.

Technical Insights

Security Audits Conducted

  • External Checks: A total of 20,615 external security audits were carried out - an increase of 37% compared to 2023.

  • Internal Agent Checks: In addition, around 11 million internal Agent checks were carried out - a growth of 87% compared to the previous year.

  • Identified network devices: With the introduction of Asset Discovery in October, we were able to automatically recognise and inventory 18,476 network devices. (This function forms the basis for the internal Network Check, which has also been used to check the network devices found since mid-January 2025).

Vulnerabilities Overview

Our platform comprises around 143,000 different vulnerabilities, which it checks as part of the security audits. In 2024, 77,681 vulnerabilities were discovered in the external area and 3,286,398 in the internal area of customers. A significant proportion of these vulnerabilities were resolved automatically thanks to Auto Healing, resulting in a total of 1,119,013 vulnerabilities being fixed.

The Most Common Vulnerabilities

These are the top 3 most common vulnerabilities discovered in 2024:

  • Unpatched software and outdated systems: Security gaps remain exploitable due to a lack of updates.

  • Misconfigured IT systems: Open ports, inadequate access controls or insecure cloud configurations increase the risk of attacks.

  • Weak passwords: The use of simple or multiple passwords makes it easier for attackers to gain unauthorised access.

Summary & Outlook for 2025

2024, like the years before it, was an exciting year full of challenges, new opportunities and many successes that we mastered and celebrated together. We appreciate the commitment of our great team, the valuable partnerships that have developed and the fact that a large lywand community has grown and continues to grow.

2025 is all about scaling up and expanding into new markets - we plan to selectively expand the team, maintain our outstanding pace in the development of new features and drive the expansion of new markets such as BENELUX, Nordics and Southern Europe. One clear goal is to double our partner landscape and triple our ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue). One driver for 2025 will be the internal Network Check launched in January, the Linux and Mac agents, the integration of cloud security, security awareness and the NIS2 initiative, which will gain momentum in the European countries in 2025.

Topics for 2025:

  • Agent extension MAC/Linux

  • Cloud Security

  • Security Awareness

  • NIS2

  • Implementation & prioritisation of feature requests from our partners

One thing is certain: 2025 will be lywand again!
