From Vulnerability to Remediation: octoja and Lywand Connect Vulnerability Management and RMM
Technology partnership combines continuous vulnerability management with operational IT management
German RMM provider octoja and Lywand, the Austrian provider of automated vulnerability management, have entered into a technology partnership. Through the integration, the results of Lywand’s continuous vulnerability management are made directly available in octoja and connected with the operational capabilities of the RMM platform.
For Managed Service Providers, this creates an end-to-end workflow: identify and assess security risks, implement the necessary measures, and then verify whether the overall security posture has actually improved.
Bringing Security Posture and IT Operations Closer Together
MSPs manage numerous customer environments and endpoints simultaneously. Security risks therefore need to be not only identified, but also assessed, prioritized, and efficiently translated into concrete actions.
Lywand continuously assesses the IT security posture of managed customers, makes vulnerabilities and misconfigurations visible, and highlights where action is required. This gives MSPs a centralized overview of their customers’ security posture and enables them to prioritize the necessary measures in a targeted way.
Through the integration, this information is now also available directly in octoja – where technicians manage their customers’ systems as part of their daily operations.
The integration also simplifies the rollout of Lywand: MSPs can automatically deploy the Lywand Agent to customer devices directly via octoja. This makes it easier to introduce Lywand into managed customer environments without additional manual installation effort.
Identify, Assess, Remediate, and Verify
When Lywand identifies a relevant vulnerability, affected systems can be identified directly within the RMM context. For software-based vulnerabilities, octoja can provide suitable updates and deploy them selectively to individual devices or across multiple systems. Measures can also be incorporated permanently into patch management.
Lywand then reassesses the systems and shows whether the vulnerability has been remediated and how the measure has affected the overall security posture.
This creates a closed-loop process: identify, assess, remediate, and verify. Security and operational IT management are brought closer together, allowing findings from security assessments to be translated into action more quickly while the security posture continues to be monitored and evaluated on an ongoing basis.
With the Model Context Protocol (MCP), octoja takes this one step further: almost any vulnerability can be remediated using a single natural-language prompt. Technicians describe the desired remediation, and a connected AI assistant can execute the required actions directly via octoja.
European Technology for the MSP Tech Stack
octoja is developed in Germany, while Lywand is developed in Austria. The partnership therefore connects two key areas of the MSP tech stack: Remote Monitoring & Management and automated vulnerability management.
RMM and security solutions in particular handle sensitive information about IT infrastructures and, in some cases, have extensive access to managed systems. Alongside technical performance, questions around who develops the technology, where data is processed, and which legal jurisdiction a provider falls under are therefore becoming increasingly important.
Through their collaboration, octoja and Lywand combine European technology with an end-to-end process from security assessment to remediation and verification.
